Billabong - Eco-clothing

Two days ago BF and I were shopping when he picked up a pair of Billabong board shorts and said 'hey look at this'. The shorts had a tag on them reading 'Billabong, Be The Change' .

Be The Change is Billabongs Eco-clothing range, using organic cottons, water based inks and a more unusual product that has made it into mainstream production; the use of a 100% recycled polyester material made from old plastic soda bottles. Billabong uses the material, an exclusive fabric called eco-supreme suede, for a line of boardshorts that were introduced to the market in 2007! Approximately 10 recycled bottles will make 1 pair of board shorts so think twice the next time you throw away a plastic bottle!

It's great to see the big brands, especially those involved in out door activities, finally making a change, and I hope that more and more high street stores start to follow suit!

Check out the range at Billabongs web site.

Billabong are also working on a lot more environmental issues such as their carbon footprint, read more here.

I've always been a fan of Animal clothing and was very happy to receive an email from them today introducing their new Eco-clothing range - Enjoy, Not Destroy .

Enjoy, Not Destroy uses sustainable fabrics, trims and responsible manufacturing methods.

From the mouths of the Animal Team themselves:

"The days of rough and scratchy, brown bread, hemp and beans approach to low impact clothing are gone. Organic cottons and recycled materials are now beautifully soft, comfortable and a real pleasure to wear."
.

A very true statement!

The range is available exclusively in store but check out the Animal website for news and new product lines.

I am looking very forward to my next visit to the UK to check out the collection!

Recently I blogged about Pandora Design's Eco Aperitif set - stylish, ecological, biodegradable and a little pricey...

On my search for Eco-picnic ware which comes from a sustainable source and is 100% biodegradable I have come across Vegware, who offer just that and much much more!

Vegware offer all types of packaging which is all 100% biodegrable, from a sustainable source and can be pre-printed with your company logo or left plain for domestic use.

They deliver across the EU and with 50 7" Bagasse Plates costing £3.20 why would you want to buy anything else for your Picnic's/BBQ's this summer!?!

Have a look around their site for all sorts of home food storage solutions.

Eco Aperitif Set by Pandora Design

Now that the warm weather has arrived, the BBQ's are being fired up and we are heading to the beach for Picnics in the sun...

More plastic!!

The disposable plastic plate/glass/knife/fork are oh so convenient but as with all plastic, it is not doing our planet any favours.

Pandora Design has created a disposable aperitif kit that won't harm the environment. Made from Mater-Bi a 100% biodegradable corn compound each set is entirely handmade, having small imperfections that makes each kit unique.

The kit includes a Sunglass glass with Tapas plate, a 2Spin toothpick and a Moscardino spork for sipping and tasting tapas.

The kit was created exclusively for YOOXYGEN by Pandora, a collaboration of three designers - Daniel Fintzi, Giulio Iacchetti and Matteo Ragni.

Although this is 'throw away' at 36.00 euros for a set of 4 it is still quite pricy. The search goes on...

Check out Pandora Design's fantastic range and history here in English and here in Italian.

Join is a resourceful and inventive bathroom sink designed by Melissa Vilar for Sanindusa. This vitreous glazed china sink is made with 100% recycled materials and is suitable for left and right hand installations.

The design is ingenious, with beautiful curves ending in the smooth loop of the towel rail - perfect.

This one is definitely going on my wish list!
